Nerds Assemble episode 5: Please Don’t Pull an Uwe Boll

Hello and welcome to the fifth episode of the Nerds Assemble podcast.

In this episode, Paul, Paul, Paul and Emily spend far too long talking about Doctor Who again. They also discuss the ethics of sites asking for payment from developers and publishers for game reviews. Plus they try to decide just how excited they are about the Metal Gear Solid movie announcement and the upcoming TV pilot for SHIELD.

The main feature of this week’s podcast is another film themed discussion, this time asking whether it’s about time videogames got the same adaptation treatment as comic books when it comes to be being adapted into films. They look at past failures and successes (The House of the Dead to Silent Hill) in game to film adaptations and whether all videogames are really suitable for being adapted.

Nerds Assemble episode 4: Long Live the New Flesh!

Hello and welcome to the fourth episode of the Nerds Assemble podcast.

In this episode, Paul, Paul, Paul and Emily try desperately to not insinuate that Michael Bay was responsible for the death of Neil Armstrong. They also try to figure out whether they’re excited for the new series of Doctor Who. Plus they look at what’s happening with the Uncharted and Justice League movies, and they discuss the first Australian territory to implement the new R18+ rating for videogames.

And maybe the team try to cast a female actors only version of The Expendables

The main feature of this week’s podcast revolves around the appetite in Hollywood  (and elsewhere) for film and television series remakes. With the recent revelations regarding a Videodrome remake – plus other remakes and rumoured remakes like The Rocketeer – it seems nothing is safe.

Nerds Assemble episode 3: Bye, Bye Dandy

Hello and welcome to the third episode of the Nerds Assemble podcast.

In this episode, Paul, Paul, Paul and Emily take a bite out of OnLive’s use of technology and discuss what caught their eyes at Gamescom last week (from Dead Space 3 to Rain). Plus they discuss the upcoming Back to Frank Black book, which has been compiled by the group trying to bring Millennium back to our screens.

But the main part of the show is given over to a post-mortem examination of The Dandy weekly comic and what may have gone wrong that has lead to DC Thomson announcing the cancellation, later this year, of the comic in print.

Hello and welcome to the second episode of the Nerds Assemble podcast.

There’s also a soul searching examination of what the long, current console generation has meant to gaming and whether new consoles will succeed in the current market.

So, are you sitting comfortably?

And please excuse Paul B’s Walking Dead alarm.
